Floating Keychains in Bulk, Priced by the Case

Marinas, boat dealers, rental fleets, tourism shops, resorts — if you hand out or hang up keys near water, you buy floats by the hundred. We run floating keychains in bulk: one design or mixed, imprinted with your logo, at per-unit pricing that keeps dropping as the case count climbs.

Everything bulk buyers ask about floating keychains

Buying floating keychains in bulk is a different job from picking out one for a boat. A marina outfitting slip keys, a dealer packing delivery-day gift bags, a rental operation replacing the floats guests walk off with every season — these are inventory decisions: cost per unit, one imprint or several, how the floats are numbered or coded, and how fast a reorder lands when the bin runs low.

This guide covers the bulk side start to finish: how per-unit pricing behaves at case quantities, when a single design beats a mixed run (and when it doesn’t), which imprint method fits your artwork and volume, fleet numbering and color-coding, and how standing reorder programs keep a busy season stocked. If you already know your quantity, request a bulk quote and we’ll price your exact run.

Why buy in bulk

Cheap insurance for every key you’re responsible for

A rental boat key at the bottom of the lake costs a locksmith call, a lost afternoon and an unhappy guest. Floating keychains in bulk put a branded float on every key you issue — and at case pricing, the whole program often costs less than replacing a couple of lost key sets.

Keys that come back

Rated buoyancy on every float means a dropped rental key bobs instead of sinks — and a bright branded float gets returned to the right counter.

Case-quantity economics

Setup happens once per design; after that the run is nearly all material and imprint time. That’s why 1,000 units costs far less per piece than 100.

Reorders on autopilot

Your artwork, colors and float spec stay on file. When the season chews through the bin, a reorder is one email — no re-setup, no re-proofing.

Case pricing logic

How bulk floating keychain pricing scales

Every custom run carries fixed work — artwork setup, screens or fixtures, proofing — that gets divided across the units you order. At 100 pieces that overhead is a real share of each unit’s price; at 1,000 it nearly disappears into it. Here’s the typical curve, indexed to the minimum run.

Unit price index by order quantity

Index of typical per-unit pricing (100–249 units = 100). Setup spreads across the run — your exact numbers come with the quote.

Imprint methods: typical minimum run

One- and two-color pad or screen printing is the bulk workhorse; full-color digital earns its minimum on photographic or gradient artwork.

Floats that survive a whole rental season

A gift float gets babied; a fleet float gets thrown in bins, clipped to pontoon rails, dropped on launch ramps and handed to a new stranger every morning. Bulk floats are closed-cell EVA foam or cork — materials that can’t waterlog no matter how many times they go in — with imprints cured for sun, salt and sunscreen-covered hands.

Hardware matters more at fleet scale than anywhere else: one rusted split ring per rack is a maintenance headache by August. Rings and clips are stainless or nickel-plated throughout, and floats can be rigged with rings, snap hooks or lanyards to match how your keys actually hang, rack and hand over.

  • Closed-cell EVA / cork — cannot waterlog, floats all season
  • Rated buoyancy per style — sized to real rental key sets
  • UV- and salt-cured imprints — logos that outlast the season
  • Stainless / nickel hardware — rings, snap hooks or lanyards
  • Numbering & color-coding — engraved or printed fleet IDs
  • Boxed by design or range — cases packed for your key room
Run options

One design, mixed runs, or a numbered fleet

Single-design runs

One logo, one float, full case count — the cheapest per-unit path and the standard for giveaway and counter stock.

Mixed-design runs

Split a run across locations, boat models or resort properties. Same float and method keeps the split nearly free; new artwork adds setup per design.

Fleet numbering

Sequential numbers or slip codes engraved or printed on each float — Boat 01 through Boat 40, rack-ready out of the box.

Color-coding

Float colors by fleet, dock or property — pontoons in yellow, jet skis in orange — so staff sort keys at a glance.

Contact-line imprint

Your phone number or “Return to [marina]” on the reverse — lost keys come back because the float says where.

Retail-ready packing

For tourism shops and resort stores: floats carded or polybagged for the display hook instead of bulk-binned.

Color guide

Fleet colors that do a job

At bulk scale, color is an operations tool first: visibility on the water, sorting speed in the key room, and brand recognition on the counter. The bulk palette:

Rescue orangeMaximum spot-on-water — rental default
Buoy yellowSecond fleet or pontoon line
Regatta blueTourism-shop bestseller
Starboard greenThird fleet / kayak line
Signal redStaff & service keys
WhiteResort & hotel branding
NavyDealer delivery-day gifts
Natural corkEco-lean resort shops

Fleet rule: one hi-vis color per fleet, dark imprint. Mixed-color runs sort keys faster than any labeling system.

Buyer’s guide

Speccing a bulk order by operation type

The right bulk spec follows from what the floats do all day. The starting points we quote from:

OperationTypical first orderRun typeSpec notes
Marina (slips + ship store)250–500Mixed: slip floats + retailContact line on slip floats; carded retail stock
Boat dealer250–500Single designNavy or brand color; delivery-day gift bags
Rental fleet / livery100–250Numbered fleet setHi-vis, engraved numbers, spares at 20%
Tourism / souvenir shop500–1,000Mixed designsDestination art, carded for display hooks
Resort / hotel watersports250–500Color-coded by activityProperty logo + activity color per line

Rental operators: order spares — floats leave in guests’ pockets all season, and a 20% cushion beats a mid-July rush reorder.

Bulk pricing

How floating keychains in bulk are priced

Per-unit price is driven by quantity, float style, imprint method and color count, and extras like numbering or retail carding. One design across the full run is the cheapest path; mixed runs share the case-quantity rate when the float and method stay constant. Reorders skip setup entirely.

FAQ

Bulk floating keychain questions, answered

What’s the minimum for a bulk order?
Bulk runs start at 100 units for printed floats (laser-engraved cork and hard floats can start around 50). Pricing steps down at 250, 500 and 1,000 units — the quote shows your exact per-unit price at each tier so you can see what a bump-up saves.
Why does the per-unit price drop so much at volume?
Setup — artwork prep, screens or print fixtures, proofing — is a fixed cost divided across the run. At 100 units it’s a meaningful share of each piece; at 1,000 it nearly vanishes. Materials and imprint time scale linearly, so bigger runs keep getting cheaper per unit.
Can we split one order across several designs?
Yes. If the float style and imprint method stay the same, a mixed run keeps the combined quantity’s tier pricing with a modest setup charge per additional design. Different float styles or methods quote as separate lines.
Which imprint method should we choose?
Pad or screen printing in one or two spot colors is the bulk standard — lowest unit cost and screens are reused on reorders. Laser engraving suits cork and hard floats and handles numbering easily. Full-color digital is for gradient or photographic art and carries a higher minimum.
Can floats be numbered for a rental fleet?
Yes — sequential numbers or slip codes, engraved or printed, packed in order so your key room racks them straight from the case. Tell us the range (e.g. 01–40 plus spares) in your quote request.
How do reorders work?
Your artwork, float spec, colors and any numbering scheme stay on file. Reorders skip setup and proofing (unless you change something) and go straight to production — most land faster and slightly cheaper than the original run.
How fast can a bulk order arrive before season opening?
Standard bulk runs take roughly 2–3 weeks in production plus shipping. Ordering for a Memorial Day opening? Get artwork in 6–8 weeks out and you’ll have margin; reorders move faster since setup is done.
Do the floats actually hold up to rental duty?
Closed-cell EVA and cork can’t waterlog, imprints are cured for sun and salt, and hardware is stainless or nickel-plated. The usual season-end loss isn’t wear — it’s guests keeping them, which many operations treat as free advertising.
Can we put a phone number or return message on the back?
Yes — a second-side imprint with your phone number or a “Return to” line is a popular add-on, and it’s the reason lost keys find their way back to the counter.
Can you pack floats for retail display?
Yes — for tourism shops and resort stores, floats can be carded or polybagged ready for display hooks, in place of standard bulk case packing. Note retail packing in your quote request.
Do you drop-ship to multiple locations?
Multi-location splits are routine — one run divided across marinas, properties or stores, each box labeled by destination. Shipping quotes per destination come with your order pricing.
What artwork do you need?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) print cleanest, especially for one- and two-color imprints. A high-resolution PNG usually works too — send what you have and we’ll flag anything that needs sharpening before proofing.
How do I get a bulk quote?
Use the quote form with your quantity, float style, artwork and any numbering or multi-design needs. You’ll get tiered per-unit pricing and a production timeline back quickly.
